Welcome to the Missouri State Council of the International Reading Association web site. We have designed this web site to help provide information about the many benefits of Missouri IRA. Since its inception, Missouri IRA has promoted literacy in our state through leadership, professional developmental activities, and resources.

Our nonprofit association has thirty-five local councils and over two-thousand, five-hundred members. Our members include classroom and preservice teachers, reading specialists, librarians, administrators, and university instructors. We are an affiliate of the International Reading Association.

Missouri IRA provides quality professional development through our annual state conferences. Participants hear outstanding researchers, educators, and leaders in the field of literacy.
